According to a partial transcript of Dan Gilgoff's Beliefnet interview with John McCain, McCain thinks the most important issue people should consider in selecting the next president is whether "this person [will] carry on in the Judeo Christian principled tradition." He would also "probably have to say yes, that the Constitution established the United States of America as a Christian nation." Not that he doesn't admire the Islam. "I admire the Islam," he said. "There's a lot of good principles in it...But, no, I just have to say in all candor that since this nation was founded primarily on Christian principles...personally, I prefer someone who I know who has a solid grounding in my faith."
