(Non-)Religious Tolerance
In response to something Mitt Romney has said (probably as a result of the bizarre circumstance he has forced himself into), Andrew Sullivan states, "It seems to me that it is equally bigoted to say that a Mormon should not be president as it is to say that an atheist should not be president." Good for Sullivan that he can make an even-handed statement like that. But of course, people are much more likely to socially discriminate against an atheist than against a Mormon. This is the one thing about religion and American politics no one likes to talk about, or if they do they simply assume nothing is wrong with it.
